Event in Review: The Crow Sessions No. 16 with Jason Collett

“This is the best view I’ve ever had from a stage, looking out at the water… I love Georgian Bay so I’m going to dedicate this entire set to Georgian Bay”. This is how Broken Social Scene’s Jason Collett began his performance on the Crow Stage on Tuesday, April 2nd for The Crow Sessions No. 16. Jason is a masterful story-teller, armed with his ability to convey story through song and a vintage J-45 Gibson acoustic guitar, he took us on a journey of moments, each song conveying a story brought to life through his craft.

Jason performed songs from his sixth full-length album ‘Song And Dance Man’ an album which covers the trials and triumphs of the modern musician with poignant poetry. If you regularly attend Crow Sessions you’ll know that this was one of the most intimate and special performances in the series.

The Crow Sessions always includes a mid-show interview with national radio personality Jeff Woods. Jason joked that he was looking forward to the on-stage conversation with Jeff because it was going to happen on stools: “That’s how you know a conversation is going to be good…when it happens on stools”.

Jason stayed post show to mix & mingle with the audience and staff. A few local musicians stopped by to say hello including Canadian singer-songwriter Hayden. It was an incredible evening of great music, fabulous food, story-telling and laughter.
